I think teacher websites are a great way for both parents and students to get to know their teacher. They can provide helpful information like class agenda or important school dates and also serve as a quick link to finding the teachers experience or methods of teaching if parents are interested. Looking at Chiles High School English department, there is a teacher Debra McKinnon. Her page includes a meet the teacher, student resources, announcements, assignments, important documents, and a class calendar. These are all super helpful tools, students can see assignments and available resources for help, and parents can view announcements and a calendar to mark important dates down.
I plan to use technology to help myself and my students create the best educational environment. For myself, I will use Google Calendar to keep track of tasks, assignments, and important dates for both my class and myself. For classroom management/my students I want to use ClassDojo to track students behavior and build a positive encouraging environment.
I thought Assignment 2 was super informational. Not only did I learn about different criteria for looking at/making educational websites, but I also learned how to make my own canvas page. If the school I teach at in the future uses Canvas this assignment will have been extremely helpful. I liked how we were able to work together on creating our evaluation criteria and then take that and choose different websites to look at. I liked the Canvas group tool a lot, I think it's nice to be able to access it on a site we use everyday verses having to create an account on another site and login to that every time.
