Working on Assignment 5 I learned even more new things about PowerPoint. Learning how to add/work the action buttons was a new skill for me, but I think this tool is super useful to make sure you don't accidentally skip to the next slide (like if you have answers to be revealed) and it is great for games like Jeopardy. I liked that the guidelines were flexible, I chose to create a Jeopardy game, but there were many other games I could have created. Below is a screenshot of my Introduction Page of my project.

As a 2nd-grade math teacher, I think I will use data collection tools like Qualtrics to gather info on student learning and engagement. For example, I could create surveys for parents to asses their child's confidence with math concepts at home or to see the effectiveness of homework. Or I could use student friendly polls to feel out their comfort level with topics we learn before we move on to the next one. These polls could help me keep track of my students progress over time and identify where students might need extra support.

I'd love to learn how to better use Microsoft Word. Here would be my SMART goal for this skill:

S: I will learn to use Microsoft Word features (like tables, borders, interactive elements) to create visually appealing worksheets for my 2nd grade students.

M: I will create 2 well designed worksheets, incorporating skills I learn.

A: I will start by looking into the Word built in tutorials, then practice by designing simple worksheets before moving to more advanced designs

R: This skill will help me create customized materials that align with lesson plans and engage my students.

T: Within 2 weeks, I could confidentially design professional looking worksheets using formatting techniques.

I learned a lot of new skills through the Web Design Assignment. I've never done any website making before so everything was pretty new to me. There were so many helpful tools on Weebly, like adding a map and calendar to a web page. I used the CRAP design principles when creating my website. There is contrast in the white background and the black text plus colorful banners. I used repeated fonts on all the pages for headers and body text. Using the dividers and separator tools everything is aligned with the items below, above, and next to it. And the info shows effective proximity, grouped together and with clear differentiation between the elements. The QR code at the bottom of this post will bring you to my site!      QR codes could be used in some many different ways in the classroom. In classrooms i've subbed in, I have seen a QR code for the kids to use to sign out when they go to the bathroom and one to bring them to different educational ...

I think teacher websites are a great way for both parents and students to get to know their teacher. They can provide helpful information like class agenda or important school dates and also serve as a quick link to finding the teachers experience or methods of teaching if parents are interested. Looking at Chiles High School English department, there is a teacher Debra McKinnon. Her page includes a meet the teacher, student resources, announcements, assignments, important documents, and a class calendar. These are all super helpful tools, students can see assignments and available resources for help, and parents can view announcements and a calendar to mark important dates down.     I plan to use technology to help myself and my students create the best educational environment. For myself, I will use Google Calendar to keep track of tasks, assignments, and important dates for both my class and myself. For classroom management/my students I want to use Cla...

As a teacher, I will try to always handle copyright and fair use ethically and also teach my students how to. I will guide them in creating some of their own works, to show the importance of originality and emphasizing proper attribution if they do use others work. Since learning about copyright, fair use, and Creative Commons licenses, I would say I have learning essential topics but I do have some questions. For example, how much is too much use when using copyrighted material for lessons?     I think one of the biggest issues with technology implementation is lack of funding. The growing use of technology in schools, is also highlighting the funding gap between schools. It's clear that certain private and charter schools receive more funding than others, with more tech tools and 1-to-1 computers for students, but there is also a stark difference between public schools in more funded "better" areas than those in lower funded "worse" areas. This means some kid...
