I've been using Word for probably 6 years now. I used it starting in middle school for a poem assignment in english, and haven't really stopped since. Throughout my time on the yearbook staff in high school I used Word to write my stories before I put them in the final copy. Senior year I used Word almost everyday to write essays for my ENC 1101 class. Since starting college, I've discovered Google Docs and I think I prefer it over Word. I find navigating it to be easier and I like the more simplistic layout. Although when I submit assignments to Canvas that I've written in Google Docs, I save them to my computer as Word docs so I'm really just adding an extra step to doing work.
I love the ISTE standard that Educators are collaborators. This standard address that educators should collaborate with colleagues and students to discover and share ideas. I love the saying that you never stop learning and I think this standard aligns with that. While younger, students can still teach a thing or two to their teachers. And similarly, Older teachers have years of experience that they can share with younger teachers. This standard also talks about including parents as co-collaborators in student learning which I think is so important.
Digital native fits perfectly as a way to describe today's youth. A digital native is someone who's grown up in the age of digital technology and is therefor familiar with it from a young age. Many of today's kids grew up this way, Gen Z and even more so Gen Alpha. In the classroom, it's clear the younger teachers have a better grasp on technology than their older colleagues. I imagine the same will be true when I become a teacher and (hopefully) stay in the field for many years, there will come students and other teachers who will know how to use newer tech that's yet to come out, better than I do.

I learned a lot of new skills through the Web Design Assignment. I've never done any website making before so everything was pretty new to me. There were so many helpful tools on Weebly, like adding a map and calendar to a web page. I used the CRAP design principles when creating my website. There is contrast in the white background and the black text plus colorful banners. I used repeated fonts on all the pages for headers and body text. Using the dividers and separator tools everything is aligned with the items below, above, and next to it. And the info shows effective proximity, grouped together and with clear differentiation between the elements. The QR code at the bottom of this post will bring you to my site!      QR codes could be used in some many different ways in the classroom. In classrooms i've subbed in, I have seen a QR code for the kids to use to sign out when they go to the bathroom and one to bring them to different educational ...

I think teacher websites are a great way for both parents and students to get to know their teacher. They can provide helpful information like class agenda or important school dates and also serve as a quick link to finding the teachers experience or methods of teaching if parents are interested. Looking at Chiles High School English department, there is a teacher Debra McKinnon. Her page includes a meet the teacher, student resources, announcements, assignments, important documents, and a class calendar. These are all super helpful tools, students can see assignments and available resources for help, and parents can view announcements and a calendar to mark important dates down.     I plan to use technology to help myself and my students create the best educational environment. For myself, I will use Google Calendar to keep track of tasks, assignments, and important dates for both my class and myself. For classroom management/my students I want to use Cla...

As a teacher, I will try to always handle copyright and fair use ethically and also teach my students how to. I will guide them in creating some of their own works, to show the importance of originality and emphasizing proper attribution if they do use others work. Since learning about copyright, fair use, and Creative Commons licenses, I would say I have learning essential topics but I do have some questions. For example, how much is too much use when using copyrighted material for lessons?     I think one of the biggest issues with technology implementation is lack of funding. The growing use of technology in schools, is also highlighting the funding gap between schools. It's clear that certain private and charter schools receive more funding than others, with more tech tools and 1-to-1 computers for students, but there is also a stark difference between public schools in more funded "better" areas than those in lower funded "worse" areas. This means some kid...
