     I learned a lot of new skills through the Web Design Assignment. I've never done any website making before so everything was pretty new to me. There were so many helpful tools on Weebly, like adding a map and calendar to a web page. I used the CRAP design principles when creating my website. There is contrast in the white background and the black text plus colorful banners. I used repeated fonts on all the pages for headers and body text. Using the dividers and separator tools everything is aligned with the items below, above, and next to it. And the info shows effective proximity, grouped together and with clear differentiation between the elements. The QR code at the bottom of this post will bring you to my site!

    QR codes could be used in some many different ways in the classroom. In classrooms i've subbed in, I have seen a QR code for the kids to use to sign out when they go to the bathroom and one to bring them to different educational games they can play in free time. In my classroom I'd definitely incorporate both of those if my school/students have access to an iPad or an iPhone. I'd love to also have QR codes with links to read-alouds, for students who may not be able to concentrate by just reading during free time, and codes with links to math help videos if students feel like they need a different/more in depth explanation on a topic.

Here is the case I will be examining: As a kindergarten teacher, you might have access to educational apps and digital learning tools that promise to enhance early childhood learning, from interactive storybooks to games that teach foundational concepts like letters, numbers, and shapes. However, these apps and tools often involve significant screen time. Research indicates that too much screen time for young children can affect their social, emotional, and cognitive development. 

    I would address this by using a balanced technology approach. I would use the educational apps in short, structured sections, making sure to not spend extended periods of times on devices. Hands-on and physical lessons have always worked and that hasn't changed so I would still make sure to use those more than their digital counterparts. I would also encourage parents to create healthy screen time habits at home. This would be an ethical solution because I am prioritizing the students development while still allowing them to benefit from educational technology. Additionally, not all students have access to technology at home, so balancing hands-on activities with technology ensures all students can learn effectively.

  1. Hi Emily! I like how you utilized contrast and repetition in your website design. The colors of the background and the text did not blend together and it made it very easy to read the information. Also, the way you kept the font and text color the same throughout the website is very visually appealing and easy on the eye.

  2. I really like how your website is set up. I like the colors you chose. They are easy to read and nothing blends in to make it hard to read. I like how each page is similar and how everything is very accessible through the links.

      Working on Assignment 5 I learned even more new things about PowerPoint. Learning how to add/work the action buttons was a new skill for me, but I think this tool is super useful to make sure you don't accidentally skip to the next slide (like if you have answers to be revealed) and it is great for games like Jeopardy. I liked that the guidelines were flexible, I chose to create a Jeopardy game, but there were many other games I could have created.      This spring semester I'm hoping to learn a lot from Introduction to Education Tech. I hope to refine my current technology skills and learn more about sites and tools I haven't used yet. I will take what I learn in this course and apply it in my future career as an Educator. Just looking at the syllabus, I know there are assignments we will be working through in this class that will be useful, and I will probably pull from and use in my classroom some day.      In high school, I was able to become proficient in most Microsoft tools, like PowerPoint and Word, as I used them all the time for assignments, projects, notes, and more. Similarly, I learned how to use Canva and have used it for many of my classes, high school and college.  As a teacher, I will try to always handle copyright and fair use ethically and also teach my students how to. I will guide them in creating some of their own works, to show the importance of originality and emphasizing proper attribution if they do use others work. Since learning about copyright, fair use, and Creative Commons licenses, I would say I have learning essential topics but I do have some questions. For example, how much is too much use when using copyrighted material for lessons?     I think one of the biggest issues with technology implementation is lack of funding. The growing use of technology in schools, is also highlighting the funding gap between schools. It's clear that certain private and charter schools receive more funding than others, with more tech tools and 1-to-1 computers for students, but there is also a stark difference between public schools in more funded "better" areas than those in lower funded "worse" areas.
