When Covid hit I was in the last quarter of 8th Grade, so they really didn't do much to keep teaching us other than a weekly zoom call or project on Canvas. As much as I personally don't like zoom calls, it is a great resource for schools and jobs to conduct class or meetings. In High School I used the FLVS online program to complete a couple credits, which was also a great resource. It had all the notes, videos, lessons, and teacher contact info in an easy to navigate setup. I never used Google Classroom, though I know lots of schools did use this for learning during Covid times. I wonder if I would have grown to hate online learning less if I had used Google Classroom over just Zoom and Canvas.     Open Educational Resources are resources in the public domain used for teaching and learning. This could be anything like infographics, lesson videos, and textbooks. Researching OER's I found an article by M'hammad Abdous, " Unlocking the Potential of Open Edu...

I learned a lot of new skills through the Web Design Assignment. I've never done any website making before so everything was pretty new to me. There were so many helpful tools on Weebly, like adding a map and calendar to a web page. I used the CRAP design principles when creating my website. And the info shows effective proximity, grouped together and with clear differentiation between the elements. The QR code at the bottom of this post will bring you to my site!      QR codes could be used in some many different ways in the classroom. In classrooms i've subbed in, I have seen a QR code for the kids to use to sign out when they go to the bathroom and one to bring them to different educational ...

I think teacher websites are a great way for both parents and students to get to know their teacher. They can provide helpful information like class agenda or important school dates and also serve as a quick link to finding the teachers experience or methods of teaching if parents are interested. Looking at Chiles High School English department, there is a teacher Debra McKinnon. Her page includes a meet the teacher, student resources, announcements, assignments, important documents, and a class calendar. These are all super helpful tools, students can see assignments and available resources for help, and parents can view announcements and a calendar to mark important dates down.     I plan to use technology to help myself and my students create the best educational environment. For myself, I will use Google Calendar to keep track of tasks, assignments, and important dates for both my class and myself. For classroom management/my students I want to use Cla...
